DESIGN TIP GPH vs. GPM

Individual emitters are rated in Gallons Per Hour (GPH) because drip is slow. However, your main water supply and valves are rated in Gallons Per Minute (GPM). To find GPM, divide your total GPH by 60.

SAFETY FIRST Pressure Regulation

Drip systems are designed for low pressure (25-30 PSI). Standard home water pressure can be 60-80 PSI, which will blow emitters right off the tubing. Always use a Pressure Regulator at the valve.

PRO TRICK Pressure Compensating (PC)

If your garden has hills, use PC Emitters. These have a special diaphragm that ensures the plant at the bottom of the hill gets the exact same amount of water as the plant at the top.

PRO TRICK Filtration is Key

Drip emitters have tiny openings that clog easily with sand or minerals. A 200-mesh filter is mandatory for drip zones to keep your system running for years without maintenance.
